So every Wednesday morning my daughter and I go for a bagel breakfast at our favorite little spot, Ize's Bagelry, and yesterday we got an extra special treat. They have a "Trivia Question of the Day" and if you answer correctly you win two free bagels. Well as we were enjoying our bagels and schmear a young gentleman came in and requested that the question of the day be changed to "THE" question for his girlfriend who was about to come to the bagel shop. The owners happily obliged and changed the question.
As a wedding planner, I had to stay and witness this!! About 20 minutes later the girlfriend came in and went to order her bagel and then suddenly stopped. She turned around and there her boyfriend was on bended knee! The whole shop erupted into applause as she accepted!!
Now, technically she answered the question correctly, so does she get 2 free bagels as well???
Have you ever witnessed a proposal??? Tell me about it!!!

The Art of Weddings
Today I had the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite vendors perform her magic after the wedding. Maggie O'Neill, owner of O'Neill Studios hand delivered recent client (and SoCo planner extraordinaire), Bridget Reed Newby, her wedding masterpiece. We commissioned Maggie to do live painting during Bridget and Frank's rooftop extravaganza at The Hay Adams Hotel this past May. Bridget and Maggie discussed the work of art prior to the wedding, and together they decided that the bridal party, the view, and of course the happy couple would be the focus of the painting.
Not only did Bridget hire Maggie to create a timeless work of art to capture her wedding, but also entertain guests. Guests were in awe of Maggie and her amazing talent...who wouldn't be?!?!?!
So, I was beyond excited to go to Bridget and Frank's to see the finished product, and it was better than I imagined it would be!
Maggie is not only a talented artist, but my client for her June 2011wedding! I cannot wait to see what we pull off for her wedding. All I can say is she has mentioned custom made furniture, painting her own bridesmaid dresses and tonight said, "I wish the guests would have costume changes!!!". It is going to be in the words of Rachel Zoe, "BANANAS!!!".

Jen

Fluffy Thoughts Open in McLean!!!

The bakery is adorable and of course smells beyond delicious!
They were giving out mini cupcakes to all the patrons, and we had to try more then one....just to make sure they were all good :) We left with some cupcakes and beautiful fluffy French macaroons which barely lasted the car ride home!

I particularly loved the separate tasting room where brides and grooms can sit for a consultation and later a tasting.

Please visit the new locations and tell Lara we said "hi!" We also picked up a cupcake for my daughter's first birthday treat, and I know it is shameless, but I had to post a picture of Sloane eating her first cupcake ever!! She gave it a big Thumbs Up!!!

Washington Post Wedding!!!

Our great couple, Brenda and Jon's wedding last weekend was featured in yesterdays Washington Post 'On Love'! The "Fewish" (Filipino and Jewish) wedding was a blast to plan and design from the ice blue and white ceremony to the adorable cake homage of their little maltese!
Enjoy these pictures, and look out for more to come!
